REED RICHARDS SHOWS-OFF SOME SERIOUS BLING

THE NEW AVENGERS: ILLUMINATI #2 of 5
This is an awesome issue in an even awesomer mini-series. The New Avengers: Illuminati (see images for more info) chronicles the involvement of this high-powered 'secret cabal' in past Marvel events, while also leading up to World War Hulk, Civil War & the upcoming Secret Invasion: Infiltration. Incidentally, none of these events tie-in to this particular issue. As you've probably realized by now, this concentrates on the fate of the infamous Infinity Gems... a fate that will leave your jaw hanging by the end of this ish.

I will say it again, this is an awesome issue. I get geexcited (Sorry, couldn't resist) every time I think of what the events in this issue may lead to someday... any speculations?

Don't ever think twice if you come across a TPB of this mini-series. Buy it Buy it Buy it!

I believe issue #5 is already out. Well, I've read it :D Definitely a nice story to add to all the Marvel storyline we've already knew. It ended quite well also, connecting to Marvel's latest event. But to me it's not for readers who are unfamiliar with marvel universe (since it's so tempting to read a title which starred by all the big guns in the marvel u), because reading it without prior understanding only lead to more unanswered questions...

Whaaaattt? Did you just insult my geek pride by assuming I did not know that #5 is already out??? LoL.. just kidding man..^_^ On the contrary, I think this series is a fairly good jumping point for new fans (Nothing a quick wiki search won't fix) And yes, nothing in the multiverse can keep me away from Secret Invasion!

So will check this out after.

The issue with the Gems was good.

But I hated, hated the one retconning the Beyonder's origin...

did black panther leave the group?
Hurmm.. Someone correct me if I get some of the facts skewed.
Incidentally, the Illuminati was formed in Wakanda [New Avengers: Illuminati one-shot, the one with the Road to Civil War label]. At Iron Man's request, the first meeting consisted of the eventual six members plus Black Panther. Black Panther was the only one to disagree to form such a group, not liking the idea that there's ONE team making the decisions as to what's "good" for the Earth. So to answer your question: Black Panther was never a member. He's too gangsta too be in a super-duper-group. Hehe!

@Tobie: Woohoo Messiah Complex! Predator X is like a pimped-up Gollum, always sneaking around.. sneaky creature.. Heh.
@Oly: I knowww right?? That ish with the Beyonder was just... weird. Owel, 4 out of 5 isn't bad. Also, I hope they include the Illuminati one-shot in the TPB.

Yeah, I hope they include the Illuminati one-shot. That was a good read... it's a nice precursor to Civil War, too.

SPOILERS for Illuminati #5 AHEAD!!!
Oh yeah... I was meaning to ask that but then it slipped my mind. Exactly when did Black Bolt become Skrull-Bolt? Also, we saw that the Skrulls can mimic/counter some of the illuminati's powers, but Skrull-Bolt was able to speak, does this mean they can just flip a switch to access their different powers, or they are unable to duplicate BB's powers?
END OF SPOILERS
